High Sensitivity Seismograph Network Japan is the earthquake observation network being constructed by
National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention. This Network has adopted JGI’s product MS-2000H as a data transmission device.
Since the system to be used in the network has to observe tremors which one cannot feel, the observation location is selected in the quiet areas, preferably free from artificial noise, and instruments are set at the bottom of a drilled hole. As small earthquakes occur very frequently, the network is hoped to provide timely data for estimating the activities and mechanism of earthquakes and geological structures accurately in the deployment areas.
JGI has also developed a stand-alone earthquake observation system MS-2000D which is capable of working in any outdoor location. These systems are currently used in
Earthquake Research Institute, University of Tokyo.
