Geophysical surveys are used not only for the petroleum and natural gas exploration, but also for estimating the extent of known petroleum or gas fields and the internal structure of the oil gas bearing formations. For such purposes, 3D and high resolution seismic surveys have shown excellent results. 3D seismic surveys are conducted in such a way that a fine-grid of control points can be obtained. High resolution seismic surveys are being developed for monitoring EOR behavior.
